This course “Principles & Design of Wastewater Treat. & Disposal Systems” is a part of M. Tech. Environ. Tech. programme at Doon University. It is offered in the first semester.  Learning objectives of this course include:

- Various techniques to characterize wastewater in terms of its physical, chemical and biological properties.

- Fundamentals and design of various physicochemical unit operations involved in the treatment of water and wastewater

- Principles of biological wastewater treatment systems, and design of Activated sludge system, Nitrification/Denitrification systems and introduction to Anammox process for N removal.

- The Design & operational parameters of biofilm reactor systems  such as Trickling filter & Rotatory biological contactors., &

- Management and safe disposal of sludge generated during the wastewater treatment.
