Fashion Designing College in India

Fashion designing is a challenging, creative field that requires business, art and designing skills. A degree in fashion design can prepare the students for a number of job opportunities in the fashion industry. Although the programme is new and non-traditional, popular amongst young generation and there is scope of employment in export houses, boutiques, etc. Only Sanskriti University is offering this programme in the region.

Style statement is a modern phenomenon which is popular amongst younger generation. The youth is inclined to don different attires. There is a ‘feel good factor’ associated with fashion and the young generation feels that fashion is a part of the overall personality and hence they would like to give importance to fashion. In true sense, fashion relates to presenting oneself draped in different attires that make them look good and is appreciated by the onlookers. A lot of innovation is involved in fashion designing and the people of the 21st century are ready to spend a substantial part of their income on their appearance.

With the passage of time, there has been a drastic change in the dressing style and requirements. This change is also reflected in the trend in terms of preferences for programmes that students like to pursue. While conventional programmes are still popular, many students are increasingly adopting non-conventional programmes like fashion designing, interior decoration etc. as the scope of employment has increased in these streams. It is one of the popular programmes. The experienced faculty members have been appointed to teach various subjects included in the programme.

Fashion Designing includes designing of different types of garments – eveningwear to sportswear, women wear to men wear, and kids wear to knitwear. Students are also introduced to various historic fashions as it has evolved over the years. The students are imparted education about continuous change in fashion design & garments and emphasis is laid on quality standards of fabrics.

The basic idea of introducing the fashion designing programmes is to:
  • Impart basic knowledge of human anatomy from anthropometric point of view.
  • Develop understanding of various types of fabrics, their selection and utility.
  • Learn the techniques of dress designing and dress making (Drafting, Cutting, Tailoring Embroidery).
  • Widen the vision in aesthetics.
  • Develop the creativity of students.

Sanskriti has designed the curriculum that prepares the students for a better career. The curriculum stimulates creative expressions in all aspects which include designing, information technology and other techniques.
